Just goes to show that everything will perish and be forgotten one day. Those born with long lives will have so many stories to tell but those like Frieren and Kraft who live even longer lives will have way too many stories and no one to tell them to

It's a lonely life that the elves have adopted for themselves.
I wonder why nobody remembered him? If he was a truly influential person, there should be statues and records of him, yet there is nothing that they knew of, even to Frieren who has lived over a millennium. Would that mean that he has lived for so long that any and every evidence of his achievements have wasted away and reduced to dust? But then did he "recently" adopt his faith for the goddess then, as i do not believe the religion of humankind was created that long ago. We know that it couldnt be based on the truth either, because he never saw the goddess herself, so she never actually appeared.

I guess after living for so long, watching entire generations of people dying and seeing yourself be forgotten in the sand of time can be an invitation to madness, and keeping faith that someone outlives you and remembers you is needed to keep on going.

@Scrwd Frieren looks like a kid and she's over a thousand years old. This guy looks around middle age, he's at least twice her age.

I mean a regular human wouldn't remember heroes from a thousand year ago, would they? Even if he became a folk hero in certain regions, other places he travels wouldn't have heard of him (a Scottish peasant wouldn't know who Genghis Khan is, nor would a Mongolian sheep herder know who W. Wallace is). Also this is before the advent of technology that allows easy transfer of information, so his name would've only been recorded and kept in specific places.

"I thought we were already extinct." "Me too." Jesus, they're fantasy race pandas, aren't they? You probably cannot convince elves in this setting to mate even if they live with each other. "Eh, we have time," and then they die.

Is it me or the Goddess has pointy ears? If so, she might be some sort of elder elf.

Given the scope of the story I'd say that freiren saying she hasn't heard of the Goddess outside of the creation myth and kraft saying he didn't used to believe in the goddess but now he does, coupled with some of the imagery, I have a theory: Kraft isn't just older than Frieren, he's WAY older, perhaps part of the original Hero party of the world, and their battle was so cataclysmic that it resulted in a creation myth for this era & history before that point was lost, one of their party (likely a priestess given the imagery) was idealized into a Goddess at the time of the new "creation of the world", so Kraft believes in the Goddess now because he's seen the way that the mythos around his ancient deeds have evolved and on a larger scale how myths are created in the world, and he knew the Goddess personally.

I know it's kind of a wild theory but the imagery conjured that sort of situation up in my mind especially with the mystery of him clearly being older than Freiren and having accomplished something phenomenal that's been long forgotten to the point of history even obscuring his name.

Kraft might be so old that even his statues and records are already crumbled into dust, and that is also maybe why he didnt even try to make a pass to Frieren. She's just a a little child in his eyes

It's crazy how this manga just casually goes "Half-year has passed". If this is another Manga it would be some crazy event

Here we were all thinking Frieren is really old then this guy shows up whose been around so long his defeat-the-BE quest has already been forgotten. In page 9 he even looks kind disappointed he's already been forgotten since Stark didn't know who he was.
