That's a possible interpretation. Especially when nobles and religions are involved putting a ban or something in such genres. But it's still a wild undertake of human nature. We don't really stop trying things, do we? We can't turn off this creative side of us so it is only rational to have more than one person, MC, trying to go beyond the limit. It feels like the world and the people in it are only there to set up the character of MC. And of course, it has to be the FMC recognizing MC's talent. That's as easy as throwing some way-over-the-top, one-time use villains or MCs buying a slave to form an instant bond or love.

It's clear from the start that the author is not trying to write something ground-breaking. And not every work has to be so. Mixing the familiar ingredients with one's own take is enough to make things fresh and entertaining. All I'm trying to say is that, I can't see any trace of creativity put in this work and as a result, it is generic and bland.
