Why are we getting a handful of yuri manga recently that are trying to make smoking sexy? It's weird right? Between this, Witches and Cigarettes (which at least has the decency to make them non-tobacco magic spell cigs) The Maid of Your Dreams Looks Good with a Cigarette and A Couple Drifting in the Wind, this is now At Least 4 recent manga that don't just have a character incidentally smoking, but have cigarettes as a Central Theme, a Core Gimmick, focusing on their creation and use in a way that borders on the fetishistic.

I don't know if this is a more or less broad trend outside of Yuri manga, and I'm not quite so paranoid as to think it's a Tobacco industry psi-op, but it is... concerning even if it is a wholly grassroots trend, because that just means that other tobacco industry advertising is soaking in elsewhere and infiltrating culture.

Out of curiosity; what was the reason behind using underclassman instead of kouhai?

Aside from it being in the title, it would make the TS's and by extension, readers' life easier to use the latter, surely? Just looking at the first page of chapter five, three lines get used up for one word when it could have simply been a single word using up a single line...

honestly japan is one of the last bastions of cigarettes with vapes taking over everywhere else, so i see why they'd want to advertise there and keep smoking culture as it is (wikipedia says 1600 cigarettes per capita, and this is after decades of constant decline)

this manga also targets the one thing that cigarettes have over vapes, in that they have a better aesthetic

that being said these are probably just the ripple effect of smoking with you behind the supermarket and yani neko becoming super popular

This manga would not be possible without our generous benefactors: Philipp Morris & British American Tobacco.
We appreciate their kind and continuing support to make this amazing story happen.
