How the hell do you work as an editor with that kind of attitude towards potential artists?

@Lilisionnach The same way that one dude is still an editor over in Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. The plot demands it. That said, it's a pretty fair representation of reality. Life isn't fair, and sometimes you get screwed over by people who honestly shouldn't have the job they have either because they're just straight up bad at it and make no moves to improve themselves, or because they're a big bag of dicks and simply deserve some sort of blowback for being such a conglomerate of phalluses.

Wow this version has much more to it than the webcomic version of this chapter. The editor felt like even more of a jackass dick in it

I see the editor hasn't changed, not only he's dumb, he's also a douche.

Any story, for anything, manga not excluded, must be interesting, the art style can evolve, change through time, but if the story is not interesting from the get go, it will fail. Props to editor-san, he managed to get dumber and doucher from the webcomic.

The first strike was telling her to change her art style to a more popular one. He had a point when he advised to experiment with other art styles but he outright said "this art style or GTFO".

The second strike was laughing in front of the person you're offering criticism, even if he held back. That alone would be not only an instant deal-breaker but also a reason to break his nose on the spot, but we'll move on because...

The third strike (and out) was dismissing the girl as a hobbyist. He's a professional editor. Even if he's interviewing newcomers and read hundreds of manga for the competition the authors deserve to be criticized professionally. As in, do your damn job editor. I haven't read Bakuman in a LOOOONG while but I still remember the first interview of the MCs with their editor was FAR more productive than this one, even if they were also outright rejected on their first draft.

I don't remember the editor being this much of an asshole in webcomic, haha. Also she had her reasons for being harsh in the first place. Here she's just a full blown asshat lol.

He wasn't this bad when he first showed up in the webcomic, but if you remember when Tadokoro got rejected by him later again after changing her style to the one he suggested, he was a turbodick and even his co-workers were saying how he takes joy in crushing manga artists and being an asshole. Which... would make you question why the fuck such an editor would still be employed, but I've seen enough parasites and leeches in middle management and departments to know that sadly such a thing is entirely possible. There's "that guy" in every place.

Wow. He's even more of a heartless fuck in this version, that's pretty impressive.

@Xystus my best guess is that they're condensing the two meetings into one, and the other manager meeting with her will happen sooner instead

pretty good change considering the source material
