Personally, I am fine with attempted sexual assault as a 'plot device' (as long as it is subverted). It is something that happens.

I understand why some people (particularly victims of sexual assault or similar situations) are not fine with it being part of a story, though.

yet another series casually throwing rape scenes into the mix in lieu of actually meaningful plot devices to force character development in the most unnatural way possible.

pay close attention to how she will instantly get over the fact that she was almost raped next chapter and how it will never be brought up again. i really want to like this series but traumatic events really don't belong in it, it's supposed to be comedic fluff and very casual melodrama...

Forced character development in the most unnatural way possible? Did you read the whole thing or just the last 10 chapters? Nikaido is known for having Ultra Instinct when Tadokoro is in danger, this is nothing new, remember when she almost got run over by a truck? How is this any more unnatural? Because of rape? So any other bad and possibly traumatic experience does not count, suddenly, because rape? Please...
Lets just enjoy the serie for what it is and drop this sillyness. For once I'm anxious for the next chapter, I want to see Nikaido fuck 'em up real good! Oh, how wonderful it will be...

@kabalfs @runfromwolves Anime in general has a serious issue with using rape as a cheap plot device that is promptly forgotten. Considering how introverted and shy Tadokoro is, it would make the most sense that she would be seriously traumatized by this. Unfortunately this could very well just get forgotten about. Guess we'll have to wait and see, but I really hope the author takes this incident seriously...

@skilodracus I'm sorry but I don't agree. Every single plot device is forced or cheap, there are little to no stories out there that are realistic, in fact, these two being a couple is very forced to begin with, unreasonbly so, there is nothin in this manga that is actually possible in real life, everything is, at the very least, far fetched beyond beleaf.
That's why I say: there's no reason to get butthurt at this any more than anything else, you're already reading some very ludicrous story, lets just enjoy the good moments for what they are, no reason to hate the story and author now.

@kabalfs I think you're drastically overreacting to perfectly valid criticism. We're not hating on the author or manga, we're pointing out issues and flaws that are present. I love this manga, which is why I criticize it when it has issues. Calm the fuck down.

I'm perfectly fine with this, and for once I know there won't be any character development, remember: we already know Nikaido have Ultra Instinct when protecting Tadokoro, this is nothing new, maybe new for the character, even though it shouldn't be.
I also don't think this enough for this much criticism, even though it looks more like a meltdown than criticism, but anyway, because this was bound to happen sometime or another, world is not rainbows and flowers and the last bully got taken care of in a very cringe way, so antagonization was inevitable.
Again, lets just enjoy the good moments, no need to be all up and armed for something like this.
