And it is a huge leap, because .. they are at a ROYAL academy. This isn't just 'some girl', it's likely a girl from a powerful family. Princesses and Baron's didn't just drop their clothes for a class title. That's inane. It's not even a real title, it's like class president, and nobody drops clothes to be vice president of their freshmen high school class.

If you read ch 8 (or 9, i forgot) carefully, it is implied that the only ones that have proper noble ranks are Leticia and that Scottish guy. The others are either lower rank nobles, merchants, or straight up commoners.

A commonly present but usually forgotten element in these type of stories is that a Royal Academy is a reflection of the noble society as a whole. Countless of other LN/manga titles with this setting usually end up explaining that titles and ranks DO matter in your academy life, so that "King of the Class" thing might actually hold some sort of authority.

Therefore, anyone lower than a Duke, Laki included if even we generously assume she's part of nobility, is practically worthless. So they will (usually) do whatever it takes to secure power and or position. They could actually gain power like Alban does, or do the more common thing which is sucking up to the one that has power. Laki chose to do the latter.

Doing it day one and immediately going for offering sex is kind of stupid, I agree, but it's not that farfetched.
