The other three heroes played games in their worlds that very much resemble that world. Those games had a Spirit Turtle, so they knew to go fight it. But in their games, level 60 is the minimum needed to challenge it, while at level 80 it's supposed to be a piece of cake. The actual Spirit Turtle in this world isn't anywhere that weak, so it doesn't end well for them.

Regarding its head being cut off, I agree it's probably L'Arc's party. But

cutting off the head isn't enough to kill it. While how to kill it was different in both the WN and LN, it was more difficult in the LN.

@screamdoom they didn't, they are far too weak to chop off the head as in the 3 heroes. They think the turtle is exactly like their game where the spirit turtle is like a level 60 boss and you need to be at least 60 to challenge it and 80 to make it a grey named mob. Though the turtle isn't like that at all. Oh and it doesn't die from getting its head cut off as far as I know. The thing can spawn countless bats, I'm sure it is able to regenerate tissue easily, even a head.

My bet for who decapitated the turtle is that is was the lady that has the scythe wielder guy. I mean there is a black figure floating to the side of the turtle's neck and the other heroes don't have the ability to fly so....

Hmmm, people are complaining that the mangaka has gone off course of the WN. Perhaps the mangaka thought that the boss fight would be boring by leaving it off with a simple beheading and now they're trying to aim for a multi-stage boss fight like you'd see in Dark Souls. I could be wrong. It's like that stubborn son of a bitch that keeps on trying to kill you in PvP games. They won't give up until they've buried you.

To begin with, the manga is probably based on the light novels which should have already changed significantly from the web novel. It's like a telephone game at that point. WN is always like a rough draft, LN is something that's actually being marketed by the publishers, and has had editors helping the author make changes for that purpose. The manga and anime based on that might need to change things here and there to help with the change in medium or whatever.
