Abel's 2nd oldest sister, with Abel's support, wanted to implement reforms to improve the standing of women in Remno. Unfortunately, the reaction from the conservatives turned violent (thanks Serpents!) and Abel ends up imprisoned. Empress Mia intervenes and manages to rescue Abel, but she couldn't do anything else about the situation in Remno. Her intervention leads to chilly relations between Remno and Tearmoon. She knew that rescuing Abel would increase instability across the continent but this is one of the few times she willingly allows the Serpents to sow chaos if it means she can save Abel.
