There's another person with the blessing of time who can undo that, but she doesn't know if she's still alive. She could guess that if her brother is alive, she might be alive too but that's hardly guaranteed.

I can't believe they didn't warn Mariela about her blessings and then blame her for this situation. Even if they didn't want to share the blessing, they could have told her to never remove her gag. I mean, it should be obvious there's a reason why she has a gag, but Mariela is pretty confident she can handle others with her own blessing.
