The group's not banned. They just have no group leader role and the group uploads are unlocked. Any of the 9 people in the group can upload the missing chapters, as could anyone else on the site (provided they attribute it to the group correctly).

The whole idea is that as punishment for arbitrarily withholding chapters, they lose the ability to stop anyone from uploading their work here.

Do you know how disappointing it is to think you had caught up to the translations only to be told to go to some other site to read the next 6 chapters? I appreciate the work on the TLs but I just do not understand manga exclusivity for the life of me.. surely now that its been a while you can just upload those chapters on here too..

Yea, I was reading a manga they worked on that the last 3 chapters never got uploaded. Popped into their discord to see if it was dropped or something, to be rudely told I was stupid for not reading it on their website. Even when I mentioned that if their site got hit that would take down everything since they haven't uploaded it anywhere else they got more defensive (would cut too much into their ad-rev I suppose).

They disabled direct image downloads too so you can't just right click and save to your PC. And no current manga downloader (like HakuNeko) works on their site, which makes scraping their stuff really hard...

Unfortunately for them, they pissed me off. So I made a Python website image extractor. I'm scrapping their entire website and am going to mass upload the chapters here to MangaDex.

What defines arbitrary, here?

In this case, "indefinite", but in general it's whenever there doesn't seem to be any set schedule (e.g. MD will give leeway for "latest chapter on site (for free)" if they then upload that chapter here when another new one comes out).
