this is just gooner fantasy shit
also it's most likely not just the setting, since it kept focusing on the school girl's breasts during scenes where it's unnecessary
i want to keep reading this and see if they put any goofy / joke fighters (and also the first chapter was fucking MARVELOUS) but if they keep this up (which looking at my third line they probably will) i'm dropping
I think he's talking purely about the clown lips? There are two black dudes in this chapter and both are weird but only the first one had the "wrong use of lipstick" type. The second is more Eastern physiognomy thing where creepy perverts are drawn with extra wide nose, longer philtrum, thicker lips and wide smile. idk tho 🤔Besides that even the chapter preceding this the Black characters aren’t there at all harassing any of the Japanese female characters. It’s the Japanese people instead which while an edgy isn’t minstrel.
Honestly thats fair. My bad for not catching that. And agree that manga overemphasizes the lips for black people way too much.I think he's talking purely about the clown lips? Now if this were in a h-doujin…That loss couldn't have been any more instant
I ain't the one who asked, but yeah, I can tell you the one who asked most probably didn't know. Heck, I never heard the term before, so it's probably not that well known a thing. Then again, maybe I am just a monkey that went down his mountain for the first time lolNot sure if you're trolling, but I'll try to answer with my current knowledge:
Minstrel shows/minstrelsy was developed in the 19th century U.S., where white people would dress up, put on black face, and depict black people in a derogatory view, with its most famous character being Jim Crow. This show would go on tour across the world (yes, Japan was cited as one of the stops too).
Current talks on minstrelsy now is about art, and some black creators, like King Bach, feed into present day minstrel shows, that that's not to disclude other ethnic groups, for example Awkwafina, Ariana Grande, & Justin Trudeau who to my knowledge opened it further to include Indian people. To bring it back to art, they specifically show these unnamed mooks with exaggerated big lips, and a big and scary thuggish look. It'd be less of an issue if we saw them in other roles other than a prop to mascunilize MC-kun.
The latter part might be more misandry and nationalism, but I do still see the minstrelness in there.
