Interesting take on the usual "MC has advanced knowledge" trope; instead of portraying the natives as idiots, it actually went the logical route and invented a different method to arrive at the same answer.

Though, it does make me wonder if that other method actually works.

Based on what was written on the board, that was basically the proof for the Pythagorean theorem. It seems like they simple hadn’t distilled it down to a simple formula.

I came to the comments expecting a discussion about math, and I was not disappointed. Obviously I had to check it myself even if I kind of knew what the result would be, but yeah, that's a good visualisation for how you construct the starting formula. Then simplify.

Also, page 4 is very much varying degrees of want.

Am I the only one that knew the answer from memorization? After all 3:4:5 is a Pythagorean triplet.

TL;DR: They have Geometry without Algebra.

Symbolic algebra supposedly emerged in 1500s.
Simpler algebra supposedly much before that in 800s.
And geometric equations up to 3700 to 4600 BC.

So I think takeaway is "society in this fictional isekai is stuck in the Dark Ages" because of those salvation creeps and dragons.

tldr: the civilisation here already has the proofs and methods to get there, they just haven't optimised the formulas down to our modern equivalents.

It's not that Yuuji is cheating or anything, he just had the benefit of standing upon the work of past geniuses, and having those optimisations delivered globally via modern technology.

Yup, true true. To add on it, most slimes are just there for Yuuji to cast his remote magic. If take out the personality, the slimes are just drones that's connected to Yuuji.

Also, the student standards are not equal to Yuuji standards. Remember the guild test? Most of the participants is dead tired to stay up a whole night while it is just another tuesday for Yuuji.
