Ah yes, all those wonderful moments with the father that were never shown or hinted at in any way. Sure makes you think how emotional the send off could have been if those had been part of the story and not an after-thought. I'm looking forward to the mother's funeral where we learn he actually had a mother and we get one panel of their relationship, making her death so heart-breaking. Like the last page shows, all the best moments in the story happen off-screen.
@CarmillaKriegstein @vann @cougar618 I think the mother is the black haired lady in the last panel of page three. You're right that she is never seen or mentioned at all before this tho for some reason.
@ultimatehaki I suspect otherwise. There was a woman shown in what appears to be a sleeping gown in chapter 1, pages 8, 9 and 10 who by context almost has to be his mother. I believe that the three in the panel you noted are maids.
What happened to his mother? I don't recall her ever showing up, so I always assumed she died right after he was born or something. But his siblings are so much younger she's gotta be around somewhere. Is she the black-haired woman on page 3? If so, kinda funny that she just doesn't get mentioned by name at all, still, even when it's her husband's funeral.
