Rainbows all over, fitting! beautiful.
I can't help but keep blaming the parents "our son became half monster and our daughter too sigh but since he became a criminal, there's no choice we will just let her marry some fucking sick noble and things will be fine again, there's nothing we can't do about it, those are the rules" yeah is not like you could do anything about it, ITS NOT LIKE YOU ARE LITERALLY THE KING AND QUEEN it just can't be helped :shamihuh: the kids can handle it, right? it's their duty! so useless omg

I do understand why they felt they had to fight it out over this, and why Anis had to lose (because if she won, her life would be hell, even if it was "her decision" to go that route).

The thing that bothers me is Euphie effectively giving up her humanity and her eventual memory of Anis just in the process of saving Anis from herself; which is just going to hurt Anis in a different way. Sure, she's no longer going to be a Baby Factory to some old man noble, and that's fantastic. But...the one person she loves more than anything except magic, will become an inhuman monster (well, not a bad monster, but certainly not the Euphie of Old) for her sake.

I think it's great from a "tragedy" perspective, except that I kind of suspect that the story isn't going to have a sad ending with Immortal Euphie watching Anis die of old age only to eventually forget her.

Just sucks to be Anis in this story, at the end of the day, as I'd elucidated before. I guess this way she gets to live a relatively free life and can work on her Magitec stuff, and she gets to ostensibly spend her life with Euphie, which is a definite upgrade over the alternative.

Unless awakening the Dragon Mark pulls some Author Fiat and makes her Surprise Immortal or something, which also would feel like a copout if I'm honest. I think I'd almost rather a bittersweet/tragic end than a macguffin that removes the stakes of what they just put themselves through, like it didn't actually matter at all.

I suppose we'll see, though. I believe the anime ended shortly after this point, and I've not read the novels/know how far they cover. so I can only guess at where we go from here.

But, thank you for the chapter.

Yeah, about that...

From what I have read regarding LN ending Anis awakens her dragon powers and becomes true immortal like Euphie. She also becomes Queen of the realm, so you can say that she and Euphie are ruling together.

This is interesting as I wish to see how Anis became queen in the end despite Euphie winning the fight.

I’ve read quite a few ln Volumes past this and while Anis does awaken as a dragon, she’s not queen yet and has no intention to become one. She and Euphie both seem to be planning to step back once they’ve reached a certain age so they can leave things in the hands of mortals.

I kinda suspected that was the angle, given the Dragon Mark activation between the end of last and this chapter. Dunno if I fully agree with it because I do sorta feel like it's just a "surprise! You don't actually suffer any consequences!" rugpull of sorts, but it means a happy ending for the two mains, and it's not like this was billed as a tragedy from the get-go or anything.

Sorry, I had to double check as I was not sure since I only read one part of the spoiler.

Euphie becomes queen and rules the land while Anis concentrate on magic and revolutionize the country. Then in the last LN she becomes dragon/vampire hybrid due to shenanigans of the last antagonist of the series and because of that become immortal.

Afterwards the two of them decide to leave the mortals to rule themselves and depart to live together in love for eternity.

Quite the nice ending if you aske me. Shame we will probably never see it animated.
