While yes Japanese names have a meaning and are tied to actual words, that is do to how Japanese characters and subsequently naming works, but they are names, proper nouns. It is highly rood and can even be called racist to rename like that as it ignores the culture and conventions.
It also is a rather bad inconsistency.
