I DONT HAVE THE WORDS TO FULLY EXPRESS HOW HAPPY I AM FOR THE VIOLENCE TO START. Manga violence is the only vent I have for my frustrations.

@TimeVolt Because that scene you're waiting for doesn't happen right away in the light novel, and the manga adapts the light novel, not the web novel. You'll have to wait for the fight with the 3 Summoned Otherworlders to be finished before you'll get to see Rimuru vs the army.

Suppose that you were sitting down at this table. The napkins are in front of you, which napkin would you take? The one on your ‘left’? Or the one on your ‘right’? The one on your left side? Or the one on your right side? Usually you would take the one on your left side. That is ‘correct’ too. But in a larger sense on society, that is wrong. Perhaps I could even substitute ‘society’ with the ‘Universe’. The correct answer is that ‘It is determined by the one who takes his or her own napkin first.’ …Yes? If the first one takes the napkin to their right, then there’s no choice but for others to also take the ‘right’ napkin. The same goes for the left. Everyone else will take the napkin to their left, because they have no other option. This is ‘society’… Who are the ones that determine the price of land first? There must have been someone who determined the value of money, first. The size of the rails on a train track? The magnitude of electricity? Laws and Regulations? Who was the first to determine these things? Did we all do it, because this is a Republic? Or was it Arbitrary? NO! The one who took the napkin first determined all of these things! The rules of this world are determined by that same principle of ‘right or left?’! In a Society like this table, a state of equilibrium, once one makes the first move, everyone must follow! In every era, this World has been operating by this napkin principle. And the one who ‘takes the napkin first’ must be someone who is respected by all. It’s not that anyone can fulfill this role… Those that are despotic or unworthy will be scorned. And those are the ‘losers’. In the case of this table, the ‘eldest’ or the ‘Master of the party’ will take the napkin first… Because everyone ‘respects’ those individuals.

@Nematoda @optiso
Rimuru still solos the main force; the LN just adds some extra fights for Hakurou, Beni, etc. such as dealing with the other enemy units stationed around Tempest. For whatever reason, they also increased the 15,000 soldiers that Rimuru killed in the WN to 20,000 in the LN.

@optiso Rimuru will still take care of the army by himself. The people killed in this chapter aren't with the army, these people are the Western Church troops who went ahead to put a barrier on the city. The army itself is still marching and is thus not arrived yet. It takes a lot longer for an army to travel long distances than it does for squadrons of small number.
Plus, do take into consideration that it a few months for Elen, Cabal and Gido to go from Blumund all the way to Rimuru's village(now a city) with Shizu. The Jura Forest is incredibly large. If you look up the world map of the world of slime, you'll see that the almost of the other countries on that continent would need to be put together just to get to a land mass about equal to that of the Jura Forest.

Edit: Also, the Blood Shadows that were in the Web Novel (them being the ones who killed Shion in the others in the WN version) aren't involved in this arc at all in the LN and manga. Instead, the 3 Summoned Otherworlders are the ones who did it. (
And the powerful wizard guy who summoned those 3 otherworlders is the one who will face Diablo and his two subordinate deamons.

@Sancturil sorry about that, I didn't think there would be that much of or even any difference between the two, guess I know now which one to read.
