That's because it's not something One Piece invented, lol. You will find mentions of "bloodlust" (sakki) or "sword spirit" (kenki) and people radiating them or even using them against other people (ex Jin'E from Rurouni Kenshin) in a LOT of media going way back long before One Piece was published.
