Mixed feelings about him choosing scale armor. Sure it incorporated the monster materials better, but the amount of time needed to craft and attach each scale was massive.

Additionally, the perception that these types of armor offer more agility than plate is a video misconception.

This story tickles my bum, it's Frieren without the baggage, just the immortal exploring the world and all it has to offer at a relaxed pace, no need to rush, take your time, sprinkle good works and kind acts along the way but don't become some huge deal, ever the nomad, moving on...

It’s also possible that the Spirits would just desert the fight if two elves try to kill each other. I don’t believe we’ve ever seen conflict between Spirit Magic Users, but the Spirits do have a character to them, even if one inhuman. I believe it’s entirely possible that the Spirits would see that One Elf asks for one thing, & then immediately the Other Elf asks for the opposite, & resolve that trying to fulfill their wishes at all is too tedious, & just leave them be until it’s over.
@Screenwatch @Grimmycoffee

Think Aesir really underestimates how beloved by the Spirits he truely is. Between one Elf and another the Spirits might support each equally or not at all depending on how they've led their lives. But Aesir is a High Elf, one who befriends the Spirits everywhere he goes.

so I could see the Spirits actively hindering another normal Elf or Half Elf if they tried to attack him with spirit magic. While he might be correct his friends might have given him some trouble if they fought seriously, I doubt it would come in the form of spirit magic.

Idk, maybe you know... Just an idea but how abou VISIT YOUR SON!!!
IIRC, part of the reason he has been avoiding doing that is because as a half elf his son still ages faster than Æsir and he's trying to avoid the regret and other difficult feelings that might hinder the both of them.

Is this one of the rare times he was overpowered close combat-wise?

Thanks for updating!

Scenes like turning an entire cathedral into sand and making it a sculptor reminds you that he is an immortal demi-god. while he says he would lose to the trio, he just has to ask the spirits for OP hax and stomp them. Also that suit of armor looks so nice. Definitly gonna become an heirloom.
Actually stupid how this was presented, both this fight and the hypothetical against the trio. He didn't even think about using his human style magic, which was instrumental in defeating the vampire way back when, or switching back to archery. Sure he wasn't about to outfence either of the two scenarios, but he still had other potent options.

I mean, it's actually straight up common for him to be less adept than true masters in melee at this point. Both heads of his school, the vampire and hermits, and now this guy. But as I mentioned above, Aesir so quickly deciding he was cooked without spirit magic was stupid.

I'm really glad he managed to stop the assassin in his tracks, incredibly sad they lost two people to him though.

The old man being a spy makes sense in the context that he was really in the right space at the right time to direct aesir to the count.

Thanks for the tl!

It’s little bit of a shame MC didn’t kill the assassin, but yeah, I’m satisfied seeing the cathedral get destroyed by MC using the titan stone :aquadrink:

thank you for translation
Leaving the assassin alive and incapacitated in the hands of one of the count's spies to be tortured interrogated lets them learn what they need to from him without Aesir completely disrespecting the count's authority.

Thanks for the chapter.

Can't you just do that wind spirit move from the start rather than risk a close fight?
Was rereading the arc and I think it would be for the same reason as chapter 46 pg 16: "If I'd borrowed your power, I would've ended it in a snap.." "..an enemy I rightly shouldn't kill is more trouble than they're worth.."

My view is that his whole journey isn't about whether he can use the spirits (even for his carving), he actively chooses the hard and slower path

Thanks for giving us this chapter 🙏
