I have no sympathy for Hannah. At least she did something good in the end, so I reluctantly forgive her.

I’m liking this plot. Give the MC a chance to grow up outside her protective family and learn what she can really do. The other kid is also a noble so he can probably show her some magic.

Yea I get Hannah effed up but remember she's only a kid herself and blackmailed. She's a commoner with limited resources/education. She obviously shows great remorse and sacrifices herself for the child. I feel like ppl are judging her too harshly.

Holy carp, some of the commentors in the thread need to take a step back and relook at the situation. Hannah was a victim in the whole situation. In our society she would be getting a ton of therapy. Do you not understand how blackmail stuff works? Part of it is to put the person in a state of emotional distress so that they aren't thinking clearly.

Do you really believe a 15 year old girl with all the hormones the teenage years bring who is scared for her family is going to depend on the same jerk who ignored the existence of his daughter for a year, and had never hugged his ten year old son to help out or care about some serving girl's family?

Also, on case some of you forgot, her mother was threatened (something about her mother's job and not able to go against remmington's orders).

As for the whole end chase scene complaints, let's recap: you have a terrified girl who is under emotional duress, and exhausted from lack of sleep and trying to keep a baby alive on a rough journey. She is riding in a basket strapped to a biped rug dragon that is freaking sprinting to keep it's herd safe. I would assume that basket is bouncing like crazy. Do you really think that handing a baby off to a person who is also on a sprinting rug dragon is really an option? I also dont think jumping out of the basket would of worked out very well. Even if hannah managed to land first to cushion the fall, you atill would have had a 15 year old girl rolling on top of a baby. One sharp rock in the wrong place with that weight would easily kill the baby, even if the weight and impact alone didnt. The guard captain also made the right choice with stopping at the border. The lord was to important to risk, and they wouldnt have been able to catch the rug dragon. If you guys/gals remember, the captain said it would depend on stamina, and the guard/lord were exhausted from the search and catching up, while the one rug dragon was much more fresh and carrying less weight. The poor thing didn't even stop until nightfall.

Upon proofreading my post, i believe i might be watching too much Bones and Burn Notice 😐

what kind of bullshit butler working for her saying I'm happy working for you AFTER you kidnap her! 😠
whatever the reasoning was, even if you're blackmailed and do something like that, at least do the dignity not to make people pity you. In the end it's YOUR responsibility even if it's not all your fault.

Okay, looking over the situation again.

Legally, Hannah:
• Commits a crime with explicit quid pro quo, was at the scene of the crime and initiated the physical act.
• She knew what she was doing was criminal. She had the mens rea.
• She was a best, a principle in the second degree, and at worst a principle in the first degree.
• The only thing she was being threatened with was inaction. Legally, that cannot count as duress because not doing anything to help is not a crime.
• The other perpetrators did not have undue influence over her, as they were not in her command hierarchy.
• In the USA, people between the ages 15 and 17 can be tried as an adult if the crime is serious enough.
• In the middle ages, children over the age of 7 would be treated as adults if they committed a crime. A time when people could be hanged for poaching, let alone kidnapping the feudal lord's child.

Ethically, Hannah:
• Was not in a zero sum situation.
• Did not seek help, and expected to get away with the crime right up until she was grabbed as well.
• Did not discuss with her family.
• Was not pressed for time to make a decision.
• Endangered her entire family with her actions.

Teens are capable of intelligent behavior and heroics. Hannah's actions are stupid and evil no matter how I look at it. If I were judge, jury, and executioner, I'd sentence her to lengthy rehabilitation and not allow her to work with children again. But statistically speaking, once she pulled the metaphorical trigger, her odds of survival were already only 50/50.
