Blast it all Ashen Eyes! Just leave the poor girl alone! And it sounds like we have an uppity youngster from the church to deal with now too.

Nah, pretty sure he just takes his marching orders from another group. He has the authority to send the Magus out on errands which in retrospect was not on the up and up.
Also his weird "At least if I want to stay myself" indicates he is either not completely human or maybe somehow cursed.

Love this series so much, but what a cliche character. Can smell his (her? I forget and couldn't care less) type from a mile away. The self righteous rules above all else bullshit. Always knows right from wrong, completely self assured arrogant prick. A grown up version of a tattle tale sibling essentially. Hopefully this snitch ends up in a ditch. Fucking dipshit can't tell that because of Simon there's lasting peace and prioritizes a poorly though out rule over results. Reminds me of Retardeios from Overlord.

@Yautja is this some trauma surfacing or what? His position completely makes sense. If you look at all the reports for decades and all the observers were chased off and saying this guy is aggressive and dangerous and then this one guy is not saying anything like that you think something weird is going on. So you go to check out the new priest and while you're talking to him ainsworth just strolls in like he owns the place do you think ainsworth has calmed down or do you think he's controlling his observer? Oh you also know that the priest purposely covered for ainsworth before when he had been involved in a very dangerous incident.

It would if he actually had enough reason to believe the priest was covering for him and not one hearsay rumor. Every time a character with this position appears he ends up being unilaterally wrong. Even if the priest was covering for him, other sources would be speaking about Ainsworth considering his notoriety and power. There's no way in hell both of their slip ups wouldn't be noticed.

@Yautja I'm sure in the end the guy will end up in the "wrong" since from what we've seen Ainsworth hasn't been doing anything too crazy lately. But what we should assume is a trusted source tells him Ainsworth was involved in this incident the church helped cover up and the priest never said anything about him being anywhere close to there or anything is worth raising his suspicion.

I loathe conjectural arguments. How bout we don't assume shit until given a compelling reason to do so? Especially when we've been given plenty of compelling reasons to believe the opposite. You and I both know he will be wrong. Quit trying to slip out with little fallacies.

@Yautja Ainsowrth was at the auction. That's undeniable. So the only assumption was that the guy was told that Ainsworth was there by a trusted person which is why he believed it. I don't even know what you're talking about. The guy isn't even wrong about anything yet and we know that.

@Yauta : Ainsworth is a very dangerous and very powerfull being, and his human observer is his friend? I would be very worried too, that makes his judgement biaised, and if he hid this, it probably means his reports are unreliable.

Of course, we're "living" with Ainsworth, so we know he's not bad, but how could an outsider know?

And that one hearsay rumor that provides zero evidence to support the hypothesis Ainsworth is a danger, and in fact provides evidence to the opposite as he and his ward solved the issue at hand, is enough to make the countless assumptions you're supporting on whatever his/her name is' behalf? Yea, okay then.

@Enyss
You're making several assumptions. Refer to the two prior responses. Particularly the first response's last sentence.

Here i was hoping for a bit that it'd be chise's brother...

Interesting that the "nun" is supernatural, perhaps she's an angel or a god? Certainly she seems nice enough. Though the fact Ashen eyes is now aiming for chise's friend while ainsworth isn't around pisses me off...

As for the wee dude's objections to the reports, priest dude and glasses kid are both right here. Ainsworth has calmed down but he's also only been reporting half truths, the incident with buying chise, raising her, adopting a black dog, dealing with the quests from the church, the trip twice to dragon land, getting involved with the Wizards and Fae multiple times, creating a potion for a dying interspecies romance, the stuff with Stella and her brother, chise almost becoming a fox, all the shit with Joseph and the dragon curse, chise and ainsworth going to wizarding school.....at least a quarter of that should've been reported. :'D will be interesting to see how they resolve this.

Yes, bring a new observer in and see why the last one called Elias "aggressive." You people were probably pissing him off.
