Anyone still think the Pope is more twisted than Lucas? All the fighting after this will be due to Lucas having zero compassion for people other than his personal friends.

When fighting the clones the first time Lucas showed he could use his mind control ability to have people kill specific targets. If he'd done that this time, with Garland on her own, the tide of war would instantly change. If he didn't know she was there, but limited his rage to just people responsible for the war effort, the less dedicated clones would have killed the Garland and Cross-Scar, and then been slaughtered by waves of civilians. Go straight to the capital by fast horse, repeat the process... and the Tower is brought down before anyone knows what happened in the port city. Akira is put on wanted posters everywhere for killing his way out of trouble, and either flees from civilization or is killed in his sleep a few weeks later.

The series has always reminded me of Attack on Titan, and I can’t help but think this particular chapter was inspired by the first attack on Marley.

Specifically, here we have focus on the enemy side after a timeskip from the point of view of an established antagonist, and they are humanized by showing many are just civilians trying to live their lives in a harsh world, and then our main characters launch an attack, slaughtering many innocents, and traumatizing a girl who was already their enemy in the first place. To top it off, Southampton is a port town, much like Liberio was.

I like how despite Akira’s attempts at molding Kayano into a nihilistic soldier without a care in the world, she still finds meaning in connection and the little things. Wonder how much of a hit her outlook will take following this attack.

It only took 38 chapters, but Lucas has finally become a Shonen protagonist. Luca had been heading towards a dark path for a while now and with Miura gone, it seems there is no one left to steer him away from it. His flowering power appears to need some recharge time, like Kayano’s, so he can’t spam it.

Given the series started after the previous winter had just ended, it has been almost a year since the beginning. Should be somewhere between 9 and 11 months. Lucas is likely 15 years old already.

Haaaaah... that is a weight you will carry, Lucas... just hope you understand that.

This series does not pull its punches when it comes to how really fucked up supernatural abilities can be when used without concern.

I am in shock at what Lucas decided to do... but I want to comment on how much of an absolute asshole Akira is, guy is a manipulative defeatist that will drag people with him to the pit of self-pity he inhabits, he looks at others trying their best and sees only inevitability.

Thinking on that... not surprised Poppy decided to ally with them.

I was just thinking about the Kingsmen church scene today. A song with horns happened to be playing at the time. Foreshadowing or synchronicity?
It is funny how the mind works sometimes.

This has happened to me before, I am thinking about things, then I remember a series I am reading then the next updates, my thoughts become a reality in the story.

If I were to analyse that... it is just the unconscious mind fitting the little pieces of clues together and kinda figuring out what the author pretends, and using memories that have a similarity with that possibility is an easy way for the mind to process that thought.

It's time for one last ride.
Lucas really broke after Miura's death, I hope Zoey stays alive.
yeah, seems like a little overreaction for him to become so grim and depressed when he has Zoe. I get him wanting revenge but he should still be able to enjoy things when he has the other person that he likes/loves still around.
