I'm prepping for the time skip where Anna is single and miserable but at least she's successful. Because all that matters is how much money you have. And Ichikawa works as a novelist or even a low end job, but he has someone to go home to every night that loves him.

I really like Anna but I always hate the career over love crap. Taking work that seriously makes you miserable. Seen it all my life. I could never pick career advancement over my partner... There's always a different job. There's not always a different "the one"...

thats not what "otaku" means but ok
That's exactly what otaku means, in the west we have distorted the meaning but in Japan it is someone obsessed with a hobby and according to the average Japanese, the worst kind of otaku is an idol otaku..

there is no realistic end that contains both ichi and the career here. one has to finally be subordinate to the other, and no girl will respect a man who subordinates himself to her career.

ichi should expect her to leave her career (to be his, rather than theirs, not to be "free") and she'd love it. he's young and insecure so it's fine that he fails to do that, but the problem is the manga isn't framing that as a failure.

or, maybe, Anna keeps being an actress, Ichi becomes a novelist, they get married and then they work together for a live action adaptation of one of ichi's books.

istg actor and novelist are such compatible jobs you need to hate each other to mess up a relationship

It just means someone who is enthusiastic and knowledgable about a topic, a nerd, a tech nerd, anime nerd, manga nerd, games, light novels, cosplays etc. It's not that deep.
The misconception of "otaku = bad" started when a highly wanted criminal had a collection of animes and mangas, and medias of the time started making the connection because "Everyone who watches animes are weirdos and criminals" gets more attention than a simple "This criminal is caught".
Why does idol culture have such a bad rep? Is it because it's god awful, corrupted, worse than hell? I'm sure it has its awful parts, just like anything else, but more of it comes from negativity bias, no one cares when a good thing is done, no one cares if some idol donated a lot of money to earthquake victims, no one cares if they visited and spent time with a terminally sick fan, no one cares if they broke some record, no one cares if they perform at Budokan, but the smallest controversy makes headlines. "According to the average Japanese" doesn't mean anything.

She's doing it not just because she loves it, but also because Ichikawa pushed her to do it. She wouldn't even still be in the industry if he didn't pusher her and keep pushing her to stay in.

In the end I'm confused by all the people who are saying she is choosing her career over Ichikawa. Choosing Ichikawa is choosing to be a model. Leaving would be denying him. He has at no point ever expressed or even implied he doesn't want her to keep working in modeling/acting.

Honestly for all the ups and downs he probably likes it overall. He wants an excuse to keep their relationship secret. He wants an excuse to not be lovey dovey in public. He probably doesn't care too much about only meeting up at home or at school. Honestly so far the only thing he specifically wouldn't like is probably that she can't go to school events.

Kinda funny how alien is for people to find a guy who support a girl's working career. It's like hoping Anna finally deciding to priorize Ichikawa over her career. Macho af.

Honestly dude, with how often I see you being a creepy weirdo in your comments, I’m almost starting to think you aren’t just trying to troll people and really believe the shit you’re saying, which would really just be kinda sad.

God, it's insane how far Ichikawa's come from the beginning.
He went from hating Yamada and wanting to kill her to reluctantly being her friend to falling in love with her and then becoming her boyfriend.
I'm gonna be so sad when this series eventually ends but until then, I'm gonna enjoy every moment these two dorks have together.

That kinda suggestions make it feel like this is heading toward an end soon. Hope not, because keeping up this sort of drama until the end doesn't sound too appealing.

I have feeling the end is near :worry:
I'm not, instead. I want to think Ichikawa is playing or is going to play 4D chess to give Yamada her freedom while being a successful star.

But maybe it's too much to ask for.
