Wow... that is an amazing reference, not just because it referenced a great movie... but because the implementation was flawless.
The construction and payoff were incredible, the moment I saw the boss clicking the spoon was entranced by how well done the moment was.
And better yet... is how it all makes sense in the context of the story, the boss is showing that despite Eye-kun's talent and potential, he has much to learn, and the boss is ready to step down... but only when Eye-kun has gained more experience.
It wasn't malicious hypnosis, it was a show of care and professionalism.
