Eh... I feel like the original personality of his was more entertaining. At least the old him had guts. Now it seems he's becoming just another generic gutless MC. Readers typically wish for weak-willed MCs to grow a spine, but this guy seems to be losing his.
Reading this gives the anime the much needed context. Felt like something was missing and i realized the anime doesn't give the mc any internal monologue so we have no idea what he's thinking
Hey, at least you understood it yourself. Cause most of the time, even if you are trully wrong, no one will call you out on it. And you blindly continue your bad behaviour.
That's what I'm talking about, thinking you're the protagonist of a romantic novel and that stalking your crush is romantic is kinda like a type of chuunibyou. Also, it's not just wrong in universe, it's always wrong.
So MC is the romcom shonen mob/hero (depend lol) who become self-aware.
So far is good, I like how the girl is more kind heart than this-type usually is. Kind of annoying tsundere style but he was more annoying so I forgave her.

Reading for the first time and I don't have more context from other media, but to me that seems far from what was happening here. He didn't lose his spine --he lost his delusions. Rather than losing it, it's more like he grew one and made a decision to either truly move forward or move on from his pestering act.
While the self-deprecation is a bit harsh, seeing one's own wrongs and being prepared to take the loss for it takes introspection and balls.
