Regressing to "passive fan yearning for his idol on a distant pedestal" from "active suitor seeking to stand as equals with a girl" is kinda lame, NGL. It's the opposite of the character growth we would hope from the typically weak male lead in a romcom.

What is the opposite of character growth? Character degeneration? I like that he's kinda perceptive, but the loss of his confidence is crashing his stocks in my book.

More like he was oblivious to countless rejected and beat up normal people would have taken hint. Of course in her case she actually loves him but respond with violence/rejection not best approach.

I was hoping he would have gotten growth to but nope simping increased. I'd call it character regression

NOOOOO! DON'T. Wtf do you mean make her jump into the rabbit hole of another girl? You seriously thinking of trying to recruit her to make a Simp Squad?
