Also, dude, this is one of the first mangas where the mc isnt a normal skinny man nor use 2 handed weapon. It is the first, i think, that use a sword and shield and relies on defenses.

That "midgame armor" is directly referred as "rookie armor worn by everyone" His weapon is probably the single best part of his kit other than maybe his shield.
