Problem is, they pretty much are the same characters as 70 chapters ago with some minor realizations that had no acting upon.
I think you forget that this manga only have 4 page chapters, where a “normal” manga chapter has on average around 30 pages I believe. So of course its going to be very slow compared to even other slow burn series, since these 70 chapters is like 9 chapters in a “normal” manga.

I wouldnt even be surprised if we had to Reach around chapter 100 before something is really going to change

I was about to say that very thing. It's 4 pages, and at least a page of that is spent on the beginning and end of each chapter that otherwise wouldn't be needed.

Calm down, enjoy the ride.

I don't agree with the panic some share but there are a large number of 4 page romance manga that have far more progress by now, slow burn or not. I just wanted to mention that at least. The weekly 4 page release isn't the explanation, as you'd normally build your story for it's chosen release strategy. Sumiko just seems to have other focuses right now.

Well, as far as I know the manga is being promoted as romance, so I doubt it is bait, but I also remember Kirin-kun commenting on Dynasty how Sumiko sponsors are the music industry and not the manga industry, and thst she's basically emrolled to promote Universal's catalogue in Japan.

So I guess it'll be a very slow burn, won't be surprised if we don't even get to see a kiss or something, because even before getting officially published it heavily focused on the music side of things, if what Kirin-kun said is right then now it's for sure a music manga first, yuri second.
Do you know where his comments can be found by any chance-

Really hope this doesn't become a purely music focused manga and the romance takes a back seat

Wow, she has fully become the douchebag playing acoustic guitar sitting under a tree around every college campus.
Bet you also hate when a neighbor or roommate or your own kid plays music?

Public spaces are FOR the Public. You can stull disturb other people in almost ANY private space, does that mean no one should ever play music? That apartment people should never play music? That only people who can afford studios should play and learn and practice music? Music belongs in public and people who pretend it doesn't are the assholes.

Did you read the manga with your eyes closed?? It's not bait.
Bait is when they dangle the gl/bl over your heads with the intention of never committing in-story. Subtextual gl or bl is when they are written as having the genuine feelings and it's expressed in non-overt ways. Being gl or bl Coded is when a characters orientation or affections are neither covert nor overt, but has elements that nod to it in story (fulfilling a stereotype of gay people without saying the char is gay)

Oosawa has a crush on Koga.
Koga just realized she I'd in love.

This is not bait or Subtext or coded. It just IS. And even if they never get into a relationship or fall for someone else, those moments were GL/yuri, and were real/canon.

I don’t think it’s that deep. The music industry has latched onto its popularity sure, but it’s also categorized and understood as yuri and Japanese fans want the romance as much as anyone. The publisher promotes articles about the romance part and they won an award as a couple even as a special exception because the jury wanted to recognize their relationship. Nobody over there thinks this is a non-romantic series. Some people here seem to be struggling with the slice of life pacing combined with the coming-of-age/romance part, but the constant concern trolling here doesn’t seem founded on anything in Japan. Mainstream popularity might be extending the story into a third volume, but that’s about it.

Uhh yes because you wear headphones if you’re playing music in your apartment, seriously. Only an asshole would play music loud so your neighbours are forced to listen to it. Are you seriously suggesting playing music so loud that everyone has to hear it? Seriously? I feel so sorry for your neighbours. wear headphones.

Also, yes, for fucks sake if you’re practising music in an apartment that is one of the most rude things you can do. Yes go to a studio or wear headphones with an electric guitar, but if you’re playing music very loud, you are one of the most rude neighbors imaginable.

Playing musical instrument is a hobby and a privilege, and doesn’t benefit anyone but yourself and your EGO. Forcing other people to listen to your practice is literally rude as fuck. Absolutely no one wants to hear other people making music without consent.

To make a better paragon we should look at the volumes: chapters lenght can vary, but tankobon are always around 200 pages.
This manga hasn't yet complete volume 3, Thre lot of romance manga that haven't reached anything at vol 3.

Learn the clarinet with headphones?
Learn sax on headphones?
Learn tuba on headphones?

Or go to an outdoor space

There are reasonable things you can do like not sitting by the main walking paths, but most music learners are kids, and kids don't have money to rent studios. Kids also tend to live WITH people (such as parents and other siblings who need to have quiet at times) and can't control the WHERE of where they live. Public spaces are for the public, and children and adults who practice music are not disqualified from that.

If you don't like sharing a space non-hostily WITH people, maybe you're allergic to public life? Be solitary by yourself.

Hopefully Koga doesn't go viral, so much as get shared enough locally that a stereotypical instragramming gyaru might stumble across her. Or get a message "hey, isn't this girl in your class?" That's the kind of realistic consequence I'd like to see from this chapter. Anything much bigger would be out of place with the pacing.

Thank you!!! Not sure where he is getting the information about her sponsors but I hope he is wrong about it :meguuusad::meguuusad::meguuusad::meguuusad:

"So I wouldn't expect any actual onscreen kiss or definite gay thing, because it's become too big for that unfortunately, even if Sumiko has not shied away from the gay in the past."
Well they are the translator after all, they must look at some official source or something I guess
