at the end there, that's like me every time I play dark souls...I play the glass cannon build, usually dex/mage with a really good enhanced and infused katana (or 3, with various infusions for different areas), no vigor. just be all dodge you missed me dodge you missed me counter hard and now you're dead
seriously, I could 6 hit kill DS1 DLC boss dark dragon Kalameet without even soft capping int or min/maxing my equips for magic damage could have easily pulled off a 3 hit ko if I did, maybe even just 1hko if I used dark bead instead and got just the right timing, that thing was broken as ****...of course almost all his attacks could one shot me back, so that plus how he runs around all the time made it hell going for the tail cut...manual spell aiming and dodging at the same time and I still ran out of magic casts before suiciding to reset the fight more often than dying to a failed dodge
...and don't even get me started on the BS I went through in my DS1 no vigor no shield run...yeah, I kinda skipped most of the DLC that game...

@Meridis, @Talismaster: Yeah, I got too, that some demon lords are a treat to the gods. But that is another reason to act in such exemplary and wonderfully sanctionable situation. They are an organized, massive, multidimensional pantheon, that established a "No interference"-rule, possible so that those worlds don't turn into a hell. So I figured they are at least strong enough (have a strike force of S-Rank gods in charge of such a thing) to wipe out sub-S-Rank Demon lords. That demon chic there, not S-Rank. I also believe, that "The world will be destroyed." means, by the gods themselves as the demon lord there has to be wiped out. The gods cleanse it. Therefore I believe, they are strong enough to mop the floor with that demon, that was stupid enough to challenge them. The benefit outweighs the risk. Terrorists have to be dealt with.
As this "No interference"-rule is also very beneficial for the demon side, it can't hurt to remind them, that this is not a oneway-street and they should also not touch them or else every E-Rank Demon Lords underling would start to do that.

If gods solved everyone’s problems, there wouldn’t be much of a story left. Just instead of an isekai’d hero doing the roflstomping, you want an omnipotent god to do it. What you want isn’t what makes sense, you want an emotionally terrifying and awe-inspiring act of divine punishment, to satisfy your own specific needs. Sadly, these gods are the logical rule-abiding kind.

The gods are already solving the problem by bringing in a hero and guiding and cultivating them in the right direction. Imagine how chaotic it would be if every person that challenged their gods got struck by lightning. It would essentially be the ultimate dystopia. The gods of these settings don’t even rule the worlds they save. They just get assigned worlds that are in danger, and resolve the issue.

Honestly, if you wanted a god to crucify and demon, or smash a moon into the planet Disgaea-style just to kill a demon king, an isekai story of all things isn’t the place to look for it.

Yes. It is very sad. Tell that Lis so that she either begins to cry or shuts up and begin abiding to that kind, logical rule.

Well, I imagine not very much, because everyone would be dead. Or nobody would dare to do that, because it would be on the list of things that kill you.
But I perceive that demon as a special case, as she truly challenges the gods, knowing that she is being watched. And striking her down merciless and brutal is to set a warning example, so that demon kind doesn't try that to often.
It is true, that ignoring an offender, will show him, that he can't reach his goal that way. But that offender here is a demon. Slaughtering people is fun for it. It won't stop, if you ignore it. Well, it will at some point, but at another it will start again. And people will start to perceive you as heartless and cruel as them. In the end they win, if this is ignored. But if you sniper them, they have to acknowledge, messing with you does cost them. Either their lives or their capable subordinates. This isn't a run-of-the-mill war, in which violence will only bear more hatred. With that kind of enemy, you can't make it worse. Also those gods could take those troublemakers out rather precisely. And that bitch was begging to be dealt with.
Doing things this way wouldn't be to escalate this conflict, but to let it die down again. "We are try to interfere as less as possible, so don't drag us into this, or this is what's going to happen."
And they wouldn't do this all the time, when a skeleton attacks a villager. The "Not too much interference"-rule would still stand and leave plenty of space for a plot.
