Coversely, I don't get all the love for Eleanor. Ultimately, she comes off as little different than a lot of the other noble ladies who are equally catty and forceful in their personalities. She just comes off as a proto-Scarlet to me and lacks the actual badass willpower and drive of Lily or the overwhelming and intimidating presence of Deborah that makes those characters so great.

Personally, I think Eleanor does have the intimidating presence. What makes her so great for me is that she was basically sent to live as a prisoner/hostage, all alone in a different country, with no fear, no hesitation, only limited by a sickly body.

Plus she is quite literally Scarlet's mum and inherited her personality from her.

I believe she would've had the opportunity to be more badass if she wasn't sickly, based on how her personality has been shown to be.

They're only central to the plot until a writer changes it so they aren't - that's my concern tbh. We've seen it many times in other animes where certain topics are rewritten/removed to make it more accessible to younger teens. The pedophile/child slavery stuff could easily be rewritten, drug trafficking much less so. But all these little things contribute I feel to the overall feel of this story's darkness - they don't feel like edgy tacked on themes, since they intersect with other plot points.

We'll see.

Do you have an actual example of similar LN that was censored in significant way in anime adaptation? It seems to me you're talking in scary but vague terms , but I don't really get why. I don't really remember similar situations in recent anime adaptations of LNs, some pantyshots are removed or spats added, but plot rarely gets altered much, except for skipping stuff due to too fast pacing - like the Unnamed Memory adaptation, which still had child abuse/sacrifice scenes left in.

It all depends who is adapting and what are they aiming for. Sometimes stuff is an "adaptation" in name only. Like, they take characters and some plot points and do an entirely different story. M3 - The Dark Metal was one fo those "adaptations."

That being said, it is way, way, way too early to have any kind of concerns. We just have an announcement which was more about letting people know the novels aren't finished and promoting the box set the new publisher for the novels is releasing.
