Alright, again that short ass flashback still doesn't make me understand how and why should I sympathize with this character, like he said the throne was more akin to making a puppet but then hes mad about his sister giving it up. "His sister giving up the throne" == "Giving up magicology research to save people" ???? Last chapter all she said was she doesnt want the throne when all he was looking for from her was how she is the "light" of the future and the rumors of her trying to kill him for the throne is nullified and shouldnt affect him. Where are theyre parents, cause I thought they were living fine??? So give me a fuckin reason to sympathize with a character who doesnt even show up 99% of the story and is just a tool to make drama and fight at the end of the story cause fuck the yuri, it isnt about it anymore all I saw was how dedicated the mc is in researching magicology so what and where was this prince looking at.

He believed his sister was the only person who could actually use the throne to achieve real results, not those of a puppet being controlled by some shadow council. She was literally a wildcard that would not let herself be bent to the will of the would be puppeteers in his eyes. Without true power, she could make the most wonderful creations, but they would never attain mass adoption and truly help the common people as long as those with an interest in maintaining the status quo would stop at nothing to suppress it, which they have been doing for a long time now with great success. When she ceded the throne, it was a gut punch to Al. She has all this potential to actually use her abilities to really change the world, spread magicology, and she just abandoned it so she could stay cooped up in a lab and create things for herself. It literally forced Al to pick up the mantle he was not destined for, as some unworthy successor to her greatness, forced to live in her shadow as he tries to find his own way forward.

Honestly it's a bit hamfisted in some areas as I expect from manga, neither side is inherently wrong, and all of this is born from literally both sides thinking they're ultimately doing something for the other, without truly considering what each side really wants. She didn't have selfish motivations for why she ceded the throne, just like his motivations here aren't truly selfish despite the scenario he has conjured here. He's literally setting himself up (and by proxy all the corrupt nobility under his wing) to be the fall guy, so the world looks at his sister and the marvels she's capable of, and will be forced to truly recognize her.

So I mean, don't sympathize with him if you don't want to. You're never going to get those could-have-been-yuri-panels back.
