Art looks nice but can't say anything about the story so far. Thought the mc was a girl too

“Talker”.

Just call him a bard, you fucknuggets. It’s not that hard.

And for that matter, just go ahead and call them Hunters. It’s not like you’re fooling anybody anyways.

@BookQueen I thought it was obvious at page 5 where the grandpa said to him that "Don't let yourself be looked down upon. A man can't let himself look down on you"

On page 11, he also calls him his "grandson",

Being a bard means he'll be playing instruments. Enchanter/tactician/executor would fit better. He's obviously filling in Shiro from Log Horizon's role.

On the other hand, the author may have chosen talker, because it sounds just like that: It sounds stupid and wierd.

Oh cmon another one? Do the authors even make their researches before creating new novels? Every single team-based mmorpg player knows that a team buffer is mandatory to take on endgame contents. You'll always be relieved to have someone to heal/buff you in FFXIV. You'll never be unhappy to have a TeFo who knows his stuff in PSO2. Same in this kind of fantasy world. I can't even begin to imagine looking down on such a primordial team mate.
Man I can't wait to read a good manga where the MC is a buffer that knows his stuff and that isn't being belittled because of that class.

EDIT : I really like the "strongest clan leader" idea though. It does sound like those top players in MMOs playing wtf classes yet destroying everyone.

The sole explanation is that Games and reality are totally different, and I can accept that. In games, a "support" is essentiel but it utility in real life is not the same except if his powers are broken. In reality you could easily lose an arm or be out of the fight if you are not aware and even lose your life in one hit if you are not a tank. Now it depend on what difficulty the author set his world, if it's easy and even a no-tank can survive after some hits, yes support are gonna be usefull because he got time to buff everyone. But if the world is on hardcore and monster can one shot you and might surprise you and healing can't regrow lost limbs and boosts are not stackable infinitly and need chants and the top-monsters are smart and will focus support, then you don't really want to have support in your group but you would like team members that are self sustainable and can work great alone and in team and a healer that stay out of the combat and just wait to heal afterward. You can see that the old man literally got ripped in two and he was the top of the top, can you imagine what a class that got 0 defense will do against the mid-class mob in 1v1 in a battle royal ?

I do get your point. Indeed being oneshot by monsters would make healers less useful. In addition to that, a heal that wouldn't regrow limbs would lose a lot of utility. But that's only for healer. Casting a speed buff, even small, on a fighter, would be a huge improvement in a life-or-death situation. Even more in those hardcore settings, where a 0.2s faster reaction would save many adventurer's lives.

To use the same example as you did, that old man. Supposing that, before that fight some "talkers" (cmon that class name is lame) had casted an intermediate speed/reaction speed buff, then, maybe, that old man would have lived. That buff could have granted him enough reaction speed for him to avoid that one attack that ripped his body in 2. I'm using speed buff as an example, but any other buff could have made a difference : a defense buff would have prevented him from being too worn out from taking hits, hence allowing him to have enough stamina left to react in time against that one (again) critical attack that split his body in 2. An attack buff would have helped him kill the monsters faster, using less stamina this way, resulting in the same outcome... etc.

That kind of teamplay would require the buffers to cast the spells then retreat before the fight starts. But even so, those buffs would make a huge difference in those skirmishes, even more in hardcore mode where no mistake is allowed. Buffers may not be the optimal team mates depending on the world setting, but I honestly don't see why people would call them the weakest (unless it is REALLY biaised, as in requiring 1min chant while standing still for a 10s buff). There's also the fact that they could buff themselves to become as reliable as any other fighter, but that's not the point here.

But ye I'll wait for more updates on the class, your point of view is correct. It all depends on the world settings.
