Comedic relief is used here to break the tension from how serious it actually is. If it wasn’t there we would see a cold hearted murderer. Also most of this forced if this took a serious turn he would’ve been killed without a chance to speak.
I liked the western chef, too bad it wasn’t a story between two chefs transporting, instead it was only him getting a harem.
