@Salfaro I agree, that’s also what I understood of this chapter.
And for the mother, that’s why I said it’s probably her way of protecting her child.
But, I still think it’s a wrong way. I know the mother feared bad things happen to her child since she’s special so good point for putting barriers. But, keeping her in the dark, preparing her for NOTHING, is just stupid. The mother should have told why she was so scared of her outside so her daughter could
judging by herself with informations if she wanted to go outside or stay a shut-in. Choice, knowledge, freedom! I think a teenager can stomach for it. Cause now, we have a “I found you” guy and our MC doesn’t know she’s a potential target.
Not to mention, also give her social tools to not being used/tricked by other people later. I still think the “everybody hates me” was a terrible misunderstanding.
I always think that the best way to defend someone is to prepare them by given them every tools you have. Anyway, it's how I see it. Also character with flaws is good and realistic, I can give to the mother good point for trying.
