page 5 I recognize Cobra, City Hunter, Kiki, Lupin, Laputa but what is the reference in bottom middle ?
I don't see anything between Lupin and Laputa. The guys in the bowler hats are just Muska's bodyguards. The guys at the right are Count Cagliostro and his henchmen.

[eta] For anyone wondering, the general mentioned on page 10 is Mutaguchi Ren'ya, not Rentarou Muta. During WWII, despite the reservations of both his superiors and subordinates, he pursued an invasion of India that killed roughly 2/3rds of the men under his command, hence why she is calling him "Muchaguchi". "Mucha" (無茶) means reckless, unreasonable, extreme, or excessive.

I disagree with the notion that military mages would disapear...
Yeah the technology is more reliable and, arguably, powerful but the difference in cost of having a mage able to destroy a city with one spell compared with a missile is like earth and sky, with the mage case being almost free compared with how much a bomb consumes in resources and money.

Tbh, I think magic would play a role but a small one. Like the cost of training and getting skilled mages is a huge number. We also don't know how much the stuff they are carrying cost. So, the device to transfer magic, the stuff the gives them the ability to fly and any other magic tech.

Like a bomb can be dropped without much problems and cost. We can make 1000 of them as long as we have the resources for it.

A mage that has great skills and magic are rare and can get wounded or die by one badly placed bullet. Would say it is the same why knights stoped being a thing. cost vs time.

Mages would transition to ground shock-shock troops or extremely specialized commando units. Imagine having squads that can annihilate tank battalions on foot or that can infiltrate and exfiltrate operation zones extremely fast and without any mechanized assistance.

In the civil side, the physical enhancement spells and ability to fly would make mages excellent construction workers, firefighters and rescue work.

And we technological advances faster and more robust computational orbs could be created, so as long as mages are born they will still have a part to play in society as a whole

Unless they win a lot in the background, I feel like the world will choose to develop mages' formation, spells and techs rather than trying to develop better combat-specialized planes.
