Chaos IS Freedom.
"Freedom" with Regulation isn't Freedom. Regulation is obstruction and Freedom is the absence of obstruction. They're mutually exclusive...
Rules cannot grant freedom as freedom is literally the absence of obstruction, and rules ARE obstruction.
The most freedom one can attain without the absolute power to simply take it... is to give the impression of following the rules while living with complete disregard for them when not under scrutiny. To break the rules without being caught whenever possible.
... I suppose that only applies within a single context though. If one uses rules to shackle one's opposition rather than oneself, then one could potentially gain personal freedom at the expense of the freedom of others... But I guess that is just sophistry.
@SunSun: Good things have come of many bad systems. Nothing is 100% clear-cut either way. Capitalism, like most other systems, has upsides and downsides. Capitalism taken to its logical extreme just results in a rich, bloated, deranged minority parasitising a starving and suffering majority. If you happen to be part of the lucky minority it is great. If you're not... well...
Ultimately what capitalism is... is a framework to enable the application of financial force... as though it were physical force, effectively. It is only natural that leads to financial violence. Financial violence that, unlike physical violence, can be applied by the old and infirm, passed down from generation to generation, and theoretically increased without limit at the expense of everyone suffering beneath. In other words, the potential for cruelty under an unregulated capitalist system is virtually unlimited.
BUT... it needs that legal framework to function at all. That legal framework that hobbles the use of physical force.
Capitalism collapses like a little bitch if enough people are willing to break the rules.
Frankly I reckon it is about time humanity reached that tipping point. Capitalism has been allowed to run rampant for too long now. Money was only ever meant to be a means to ends... not an end in and of itself.
There is no ideal system. Ultimately, all human organisation will inflict suffering on someone... and the more extreme they get, the more suffering they inflict. My only business is making sure I can adapt to make the most of whatever hell-hole I find myself stuck in. Unfortunately I'm not very good at deception... so... my disregard for the laws and structure of human society tends to be rather blatant.
