I would just like to acknowledge that i mourn this series going so hard down the path of its cerebus syndrome. It was so much more fun when it was Mel vs the World and the World having 0 idea how to deal with an isekai'd womanchild who just wants to be the platonic ideal of a grandma.

i mean, Saving 80k gold for my Retirement is a Tragic Comedy and it can pivot between its Yuri Romance, Political Espionage, and FUNA-Nonsense very well

like Mitsuha uses an island in the middle of fucking nowhere as a prison for the spies trying to surveil her.

Edit: my point is you can have serious shit while doing funny shit. this series though has been the funny shit being surplanted by the serious shit, and i dont like that. i use saving 80k gold as example because Mitsuha very, very rarely drops the Jovial Teen Girl facade fully even while murdering people. The only times weve seen it go down completely is in the Albarn-Zegleus War, Albarn-Yamano War, and the Boarding School Hostage Rescue, and only the hostage rescue ends with Mitsuha still in Cold Fury.
