@Sahmir Just want to add in a quick word, please keep in mind that it's made clear in this chapter that the old lord and Co. were collecting taxes and using it for themselves while people were starving. There were people's lives who literally depended on the guy infiltrating and going along with the spy mission, despite that he was a 14 year old kid who was spending almost all his time with a genuinely good hearted, though naive, girl who developed feelings for him. While if you want to poke holes in how good a 14 year old would be at concealing his identity when he had to lie about his age, his name, his background, and even dye his hair constantly, it's pretty clearly communicated that all of those disparaging comments were either said out-loud by the MC or were in her head, and while what he did really did mess her up, he's shown regret and sympathy for those actions. It's been clearly communicated that he did care for her, and while the situation she was in was very messed up, since he was a 14 year old kid who had mutual feelings with her (given that he told her the truth about his hometown it's clear that she did get to see his actual personality, even if she doesn't think she did) and lives of not only the people as a whole but even his own family (since they were among the people suffering that he's now helping as the lord) I'm not going to fault him for making a really bad judgement call about how badly this would affect her, he tried to explain things to her, he tried to get her out of the situation, but she wouldn't have any of it, and you can see the pain that it causes him back in chapter one.

Wait, I'm confused, did she just poison him? o.o;

...okay, I guess that would be fair, mind. XD Just unexpected.

I assume this is misdirection on the author's part as to what just happened, though.

Still in the camp of slaughtering all revolutionaries and burning down the province, but meh,can be convinced the standard shoujo line is worth seeing through.

He really really really reminds me of Sinbad from Magi, like his entire character, plot, and even his design is just European Sin.

re-reading this once more i just wonder why carol came back, like if she cared for the mc friend then she would know she was innocent, so was she not angry with the dude at all? like, did she go: ''hey i came back! how is the young miss? what? u betrayed her and took over the whole family and executed her? wow thats wild......anyway are u hiring?''
And it can get worse! if she knew about the dude and the mc being in love, then she working for him is even worse, hell by their interaction she has been working there for a long time!, im guessing she was away for 2 or 3 years before coming back to work in the new mansion, but damn! talk about burrying the past and then setting a fucking picnic table above it

Bitch, its not like you tried to kill someone from the royal family.
You were just a dumb noble girl in love.

Tbh... personally, I felt like this guy should've handled it differently with her before she was completely fooled by him in her past life. He could've made her realise she wasn't living an honest life & at least made her turn against her own family for the people, then save her from their wrath. But he chose to lead the revolution the hardest way, & that resulted in her being the family sin-bearer, the black sheep. So, I don't want her to be roped in by him again even if he tried to remedy his guilt if he found out she's her. & that's if he still holds his guilt about her. Having to associate with him personally might worsen her past trauma. If I'm in her place I actually will escape by moving out of the fief, by requesting to be adopted by a family at the border or something like that, & grow up aspiring to travel outward to start afresh. Yes, I might be a coward, but I will atone the old sins in my own way, leading another life that won't trigger my trauma directly. I guess in this regard she's actually really strong & she is willing to face her problems head-on. She was & is still a good person, after all. Just wronged by the closest person she could truly open up with. That's the same as him stabbing her in the back himself.

Edit: Holy fertiliser, he realised it immediately at the very end wtf.

@OllyMolly past "sins" since she didn't really do anything and basically asked to be killed because she thought that little of herself.
