@Agirlhasnoname There honestly is not likely to be much risk. First of all copyright law spanning countries if iffy at best especially when applying to something not being done for profit. A major company might be able to do something but a single author is unlikely to do much.

Generally a translation group drops a translation either because they get scared anyway or they simply don't want to offend the author. HOWEVER, I've also heard that recently there have been people posing as authors to threaten translation groups. I don't know enough to say whether there is any chance of this being one of those cases ... however it's enough to say you shouldn't always just automatically believe such rumors without some proof.

So I wish you luck @LordGrimREAP I can't say for sure what the future will hold but for many readers, people like you are the only way we can enjoy works like this.

@Metazoxan well, let's hope they can push through indeed. Cuz there are some like with The Archmage's Daughter that the author was adamantly against illegal translations.

@Agirlhasnoname Has there ever existed an author who would approve of illegal translations? The majority of individual authors wouldn't do anything about it because many likely might not even be aware, would know there's nothing they can concretely do about it, or don't care if there are no legal translated publications abroad. However, I imagine even a twitter/doujin author would mostly like to be asked, out of politeness if for no other reason.

@Kaarme What I HATE are authors that raise a fus over "illegal" translations when there is no apparent legal one that is readily available.

Like seriously author! If I can't buy your work in my language stop getting upset if I'm not paying for it. I'm never going to buy it anyway so you lose nothing. So kindly F off, leave me be, and at least enjoy the fact people enjoy your work.
