Y'know, I don't really get the hate. Yeah, okay, we could have spent half the story focusing on her being taught how to be a gay host club member, where women dress as men to treat a woman in an emotionally mature yet affirming way (while, y'know, being a thirst trap to get money out of ladies' pockets)...
...But that leaves no room for resolution, and y'all would say even harder that the ending feels rushed.
Others pointing out that yeah, the real issue is that she looks and sounds more masculine than other girls, rather than That Doe Eyed Cutie We Need To Protect (And a yes girl, because that's a very common theme in these engagements, insecurities from the guy translating into "You're too smart, go away!")
It could, indeed, be more solid if it were a series, but I feel like it would end up something like the villainess' kingdom one, or the convent where the sisters are all ex-villainesses helping solve the problems of people who are about to be called villainesses (by, in this one, welcoming them to the Host Club), and while reading those, I distinctly remember comments like "I hope this isn't all it is" (Yes, yes it is) and "I hope there's some actual romance" (Well, maybe.)
Personally, I love it. Doesn't outstay its welcome, shows everyone except jackass being happy (or about to be made happy), and it's a take I've never seen before, in a genre where the fresh ones are indeed the ones with takes we haven't seen time and time again.
EDIT: Ooop, before I forget, the "stolen" part. It's a little misleading, since the thought process is "I got the hot guy, but he turned out to be trash... HOLY CRAP, HOT CROSSDRESSING WOMEN, MY OTHER FAVOURITE THING! SCREW THE TRASH, TAKE MY MONEY!"
Not exactly the shitty thing that makes folks go "Ugh", that...
