Even if you write those YT video essay in text form, it would be a very bad essay. Video essays nowadays are very verbose, while a good text essay is more dense. I don't know why youtubers makes 30+ minutes videos for something that can be explained in like 10 minutes when you trim the useless crap and change a few words. It's a skill to master, i don't pretend i've done it well when i was a teacher, but YT essays are full of extraneous cognitive load.

I'm pretty sure they do long videos because it's a way to sell their videos. They do long videos, they are doing quality content, they do the real stuff, not stupid short video made to explain very specific points, they think grand !
