I have to wonder if the ending reflected the author's real life experience over the course of the manga after quitting her job. If so, that makes this even more depressing.

saw this coming a mile away after the author started throwing away all the character development of actually giving up the suit.

like, what story does this tell you? "you can't escape corporate hell, go back and work yourself into death"

for a story that started off with such an optimistic escapist message, this was just an utter disappointment

Real life is already suffering enough, why does a manga also gotta end in despair lol

Eesh... Not a fan of stories that end with nothing really changing. It's almost like the "it was all a dream" cop out. I understand they kinda grew to understand all they really needed was each other, but it felt like that was already how they felt at the beginning. Oh, well. Such is the nature of being axed.

Thanks for the translation

I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly but wasn't this the manga that went on hiatus because the author was running out of money and struggling to buy food? I always assumed that the author going through that was why the tone shifted. I'm not sure if that actually happened or if I made it up though. I do remember that the author went full-time mangaka around when this started.

I got baited on this series, I really did. I was expecting, you know, maybe some hard times, but they'd support each other through it and find a way forward.

Instead it ended up being, functionally, a lesson about "never chase your dreams, the corporate grind is the best you can ever hope for, and definitely don't get any big ideas about marrying your girlfriend." It's depressing as all hell and for no payoff.

Is it realistic? Sure, realistically it was a gamble from the start, sometimes these things just don't work out, etc etc. If it reflects the author's journey of throwing away the suit to become a fulltime mangaka like some folks have suggested here, I can't really fault her for it, clearly it was a miserable, heartbreaking experience! But as a story it sucks, it just sucks, the tone at the beginning didn't prepare me for any of this, and I'm worse off for having read it at all.

Someone in the Dynasty Reader forums posted the same thing about the author quitting her job to do this manga so there is a high chance you didn't make it up.

There are a lot of popular series lately about dystopian hellscapes and horrible jobs, trying to find freedom in truck-kun or the zombie apocalypse or a sexy devil boss. This was the best of them, actually realistic and bittersweet. Totally free from fantastic escapism.

Rather than escape, it ends with needing to accept the things they didn't like. Even if Capital wins, at least they have each other. I hope the author gets to continue this story at some point as there's more to say.

It really, really sucks to see this one get cut short. Nonetheless I'm glad to have seen some of what could've been, thank you for your hard work translating this!

On one hand, it absolutely sucks that this got axed, because the premise was nice, but this ending is incredibly unsatisfying. But on the other hand, I dunno if I would have been able to handle 4 or 5 more chapter of this absolute misery because it hit a bit too close to home at times, even in this final chapter.
