To be fair, I'm totally fine with this. It's giving me the sense of closure and the end of each character is explicitly determined. In fact, I yearn for this kind of storytelling. I don't really like open-ended ending or something like "and they live happily forever after, and blablabla". I want to know how the characters live the remaining of their lives. I want to know what kind of merits they had when they were living. That way, by the time they die, we know exactly how we should perceive them. We'd know if the good guys stay the good guys, or if the bad guys (provided they don't perish by the end of the story) want some change of pace.
I'd love to see more of this...
