if the father was arrested for beating his daughter id be all for it, but 'excessive self defense'? guy comes at you with a knife and you use their knife to stab him and YOUR the one in trouble? if thats actually a thing in japan it makes sense how the yakuza still exist
That is a thing in quite a few countries, tho not to this extreme, generally speaking, if your life isn't in danger, you don't have the right to end the agressor's life.
In this case one could argue that his life was in danger, seeing as the agressor had a knife and tried to stab him, however there's also the 3rd party which wasn't shown, really depends on a case to case basis.
Still a pretty weird way to end his participation in the story.

No such thing as excessive self defence. If youre trying to harm me im well within my rights to chuck a stick of dynamite at you. Not a real crime.

I get that it’s her personality and she thinks of him as her “precious father,” but I still don’t like how easily she forgave him. To me it’s not sweet and I find her to be stupid, not cute/nice in this instance. Of course I understand why she might act that way, but I still think it’s dumb 🤷‍♂️

Wasn't the father struggling after early retirement when he had an injury? He had to take a job he couldn't bare to withstand.

But now, he has Pulp Fiction amount of money on one of his bank accounts?!?

Anyway, hope he will enjoy some butt rape, supposedly they like child abusers there :]

In terms of realism I think it's totally acceptable that she forgives her father so quickly. People who are often abused can exhibit overt amount of sympathy and forgiveness for their abuser especially in cases where the abuser provides for them.

That being said that dad should just rot if he wants to atone.

You can choose to live with the resentment and bitterness of the tragedy that your parents put upon you, or you can at least separate the good from the bad and try at least to remember the good so that you can go on freely a suffer no more than what you already suffered from their hands. The fact that she chose the latter may come as stupid and unreal for some people but what she did is the harder choice but the better noneless and the are real cases of people that choose the path that she did, her decision is probaly one the most deep aspect of this plot and a lot of readers will not even understand the meaning of her decision.
Bro what, even if she’s “remembering the good” it doesn’t help and doesn’t make sense. She doesn’t need to stay stuck in her head and be bitter about her past but Realistically this trauma is gonna affect her future. You can’t just “forget” about trauma or only remember the good moments and move past it you’re gonna have to confront it to move past it. People who have trauma have triggers, this can be smell, places, or even sometimes random memories decide to pop up and remind you of the past. This isn’t a case of being abused for a month, this is a years long case. “Seeing the good” my fucking ass

The guy he stabbed died so, that's manslaughter.

There's enough dunking on him being an abusive pos manslaughter scum. Let's dunk on his idiotic bank account password. Not only is it a family member's birthday, but it's also "1111." It's easily guessed from two directions. I can't believe he wasn't wiped out already. fml.

the developements in this chapter drop the quality of the series from a 8.5 to a 5.5-6. A lot of plot asspulling and things that happen with no logical cause

Take liking to the scenario, more realistic and yeah people like Hatsuhiro exist too since she can't divide real and fake and illusion

it's astonishing how fast the father made a 180°. it took maybe an evening for him to sober up from everything and gets granted forgiveness by his daughter and the MC? a bit too fast, too easy, even with that attack on him.

After years and years of abuse all is well with a "you're still my father"? This is the same guy who was about to put a lit cigarette in her mouth in front of her boyfriend! He is a criminal and possible even a psychopath...
The author chose to put such a sensitive topic like domestic abuse and then pulled the "there's no evil people" and "is enough to regret" manga tropes when it was time for him to pay...

Ok, just hear me out for a second.
We're talking about a different culture here.
Some places of the world put you behind bars if you kill someone who entered your house with a weapon.
So yeah, I suspend my disbelief in the charges.
Now, the whole thing where she forgives him and smiles and etc
Yeah, It shows how she's pure and etc. Buddhism stuff iirc.
People were also losing their shit in the last chapter when he's thinking about how he came to abuse her.
I mean, it is HIS mind. The mind of the abuser, don't expect it to make sense.
It's like expecting Judge Holden to not sound like a psycopath when he monologues about how God is War.

How funny it would be if they both came back a week later telling him that kotori is pregnant

There should be no such thing as "excessive" self defense when there's someone coming at you with the intent to kill.
Reminds me of that old dude from the US a few weeks ago touting a gun at an employee from Walmart just because he wasn't sold any meat lmao

That and drug laws in japan are very strict and extremely punitive
