So there are people among the townsfolk who know about this phenomenon and try to keep it under wraps, I wonder to what end.

At first I wondered if maybe sending people into the tunnel via train was some sort of ritual that made the blob heads for that thing to eat, like the classic "secret sacrifice for protection" type of plot, but then our mc made it back unblobbed and the teacher is blobbed and uneaten, so probably not.

Either way, this is really interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes

yeah although they seem to be acting 'normal' otherwise, the teacher she saw doesn't seem to be physically or mentally affected as far as we know versus them just being 'taken over' b/c the sister did answer the mom on the phone
