Tbh, being not a native speaker I don't care either way as long as I get what's it all about.

Much more discomforting is reading manga (fan) translations where the metric system is changed to ft & lbs... I mean come on, not only is Japan itself using the metric system, in fact more than 90% of all countries us it! Doing it with a * sidenote is understandable and not bothering at all, though!

Every guy should wear a skirt at least once in their lives (plenty of opportunities to dress stupid in carnivals, halloweens and the like) just to get a feel for how immensely annoying it is even when you don't really care that much about flashing some poor sod your underwear. And some women do that every day. Crazy.

Pants = underwear (typically masculine)

The problem is that you're wrong, full stop. Panties are female underwear. Pants is another word for trousers. Male underwear are boxers, briefs, trunks, or in some cases slips (those are basically unisex).
