100% once you have the main couple doesn't matter the stage,if they have been set up to be the main couple, adding a third wheel love interest tends to drag the story. I'm reading a manga now with the childhood friend and she's lost already. So anytime they interact as friends you just feel sad. I'd rather the childhood friend be a confidant to help with the MC's problems in the relationship or provide a girls perspective. There has never been a single rom com that’s been improved by introducing a secondary love interest*. They exist to slow progress, take up page time, cause unnecessary drama and then ultimately either lose or cling around to be annoying forever. Anything they could contribute to the story can be better served by a friend, family member, side couple, or convenient rain storm.
No one has ever finished a manga and went “damn, I’m so glad that childhood crush showed up out of nowhere to make the FemC look like a wishy-washy bitch and soak up half a volume just to lose”
*after the initial premise has been established
are you sure about that?my breasts are incapable of thinking
You're still on this...Few chapters soon and we probably will be introduced to her male childhood friend. I can’t wait for the author to introduce him. I wanna see a love triangle In this series. The fmc will probably have lingering feelings for her childhood friend.

Just read any of the six thousand other titles that do exactly that. I would like to enjoy just one without that.

Are you seriously hoping for every up and coming romcom manga to get cancelled?
It’s known in the industry that if some form of love rival shows up, the editor has just informed the mangaka that their contract is not getting renewed and it’s time to wrap up.
Not every series that has that trope is cancelled. Especially when it’s done right. Yall are just sensitive and exaggerating.Go to horny jail. There’s so much doujins to pick from.
