Be realistic, guys. Put a real modern guy in the MC's shoes and you won't get someone who can overcome his fear with only one year without a mental break even if they're accompanied by a very strong legendary beast. More so if the person himself is actually have a weak status with slow stat up, also with the legendary beast doesn't really understand the feeling of the weak.

Carelessness begets mistakes. No matter how powerful Fenrir is, or how much he values the MC, his flippant regard for safety could easily spell the MC's demise.

The protagonist is without doubt a coward, but rightfully so.
Sure, Fenrir is basically invincible, but he is not. He can fall off his back if he runs too fast, he can easily die if he get into a fight with a monster.
What if another monster jumped from behind while Fenrir is fighting the pack? What if a stray shot hit him by accident?

I understand it can be annoying, but his alarmism is well balanced by Fenrir's laidback attitude, and justified by the situation.
It looks like good writing to me.
Also, he just recently started fighting monsters... he is still growing.

I feel like the MC probably would be a little less scared if he could actually tell that the barrier was on him (sensation or status notation). Problem with an invisible shield that you can't feel being in place is how do you know if its currently there or not?
