I'm glad Kogane shared my feelings on impersonating the dead to win an argument. I guess it's not too bad, but I still feel like Mutsumi manipulated his guilt to get a favourable outcome, which just feels iffy to me, especially using supernatural powers.

Yeah. Agree with Kogane on this one poor taste. At least she did not say anything became a foil for his reasons and then left with a pat of encouragement. That was one of the best ways to handle it. Sometimes being able to state situations out loud helps folks process complex emotions and plan for the future.

Well I guess that wasn't too manipulative... Poor guy. Zanma-sensei is also really big into the 'you should get help' which is also not normal for middle aged Japanese guy to do.
Sadly mental health still has a stigma, especially in the male demographic. I suffer from multiple things, and look fairly normal on the surface. Still a reminder that mental health is still health, it is just like going to the doctor when sick. If you ignore it like many do, it can cause permanent issues in other parts of your life, or eventually you may not have the fortitude to keep pursuing life.

Personally not upset at what Mutsumi did - I get that it's nominally in poor taste, but if it gets the guy to take a step back and reassess, this is a case where I'd say the ends justify the means.

Snooping on someone else's balcony, however....

Thanks for the chapter!

Where are their brains then?
I feel like I ask this at least once a chapter.
I knew I should have had more faith in Zanma-sensei. I was quite gratified to see Mutsumi-chan, who is still immature, get a lesson in adult responsibility from Kawashima's son's trauma dump. Her acknowledging the son in his father's place instead of whatever she had planned was heartwarming. Also, we see how much the connections formed between Kawashima-san and the yokai in the apartment block have helped her. At her introduction, she was just waiting to die. Now she is in good health and has a community that can support her. They even helped mend the rift with her son, who really did only want what's best for his mom, after all. Thanks as always to sarusa and Thumper.

Trying not to think about the biology of them only morphing 1 ear.

Do they have extra ear cannals at the top of their heads? Where are their brains then?

Tiny brains?:notlikethis:
You're asking the age-old question where it comes to any animal eared character in any series. Let it go, man. Some things are better off left unknown :pacman: .

You don't want more of this, do you?

Very naughty girl indeed.

Yeah, it would have been worse if she started saying, anything. But she mainly wanted to listen, so it's a one-time-is-okay.

Poor guy. Zanma-sensei is also really big into the 'you should get help' which is also not normal for middle aged Japanese guy to do.
I can only imagine what hell he's seen

Keep in mind, by virtue of being supernatural creatures, they don't even need to shapeshift their ears to listen to the conversation, they can just boost the sensitivity of their hearing to do it, or leave a small out of the way ofuda to listen in via a spell written on it, or make themselves invisible while being in the same room.

The way I see it, the ears are just for the lols on Kogane's part and little tanuki seeing her big sis figure doing it, followed suit.
