I've never visited Japan, so I might be totally off, but based on what I've seen in anime and manga, it seems to me these family restaurants are basically mostly serving Western themed food, aren't they? So, in Japan, they would be what you'd call an ethnic restaurant (since they aren't specialising in Japanese or even East Asian cuisine), whereas in the West, they would be just nondescript restaurants (since basic Western food is 100% ordinary food commonly found everywhere in the West). Even in the West, you still have more specialised Western restaurants, like Italian, Greek, French, Scandinavian, etc restaurants, of course.

But like I said, maybe I'm totally wrong since manga and anime don't always reflect the reality, surprise surprise.

They also serve Japanese food, though not what you'd call classical fancy Japanese (kaiseki) - you can get your miso soup, bowl of rice with egg on top, salt grilled mackerel, tempura, stuff like that. But I think it would be fair to say that their main focus is on (Japanese adapted) western food - like burgers, sandwiches, hamburg steak, omelette rice.

That is very true.
Sadly some people on this site can get violently hostile if the TL group puts anything on the chapter, I have seen people go fucking ballistic over a single, small TL note at the edge of one page before and they went on a paragraph rant about how much they hate when groups put any notes anywhere in the chapter even if it where at the end on it's own added in page.

I swear some people these days are just looking for things to be offended by, when they instead they could just appreciate fluffy fox wives.
