Seriously, C-rank? I'd say Gazelan got to watch a public mass-execution from the front row, for the price of the cheap seats.

Him having the fairies fight for him instead of the two girls isn’t really him fighting so the whole reason to be an adventurer for a bit seems like a farce like him fighting the horse was just him going pokemon on it and having nana fight
Nope... As Kosuke has set up things right now, he effectively acts like a tamer/summoner.
And that class fights through the tames/summons. Which he properly does.
Not everybody fights like a meathead musclebrain shounen protag you know...

A second aspect is that he is actually quite capable of fighting himself, without summons or pets.
Of course, that would require at least partly releasing his Divine Aura.. Which would defeat the whole purpose of a nice realxed round of Adventuring..
If only because every monster in a 10 mile radius would scarper as soon as they sensed him , making hunting quests... a tad difficult.
An admittedly stoopid Duel/Ranking Fight like this would be over in a second if he just released 50% of his Divine Aura.
Everybody in the Guild, possibly half the town, would faint due to GodGasm in nothing flat..

Bringing the two Woofs + havng the 4 fairies at his disposal might be considered a bit Overkill, but on the other hand... "There's no such thing as overkill. There's only Out of Ammo!, and Reload!"..
The two Foxes alone are already heavy Artillery..

Kosuke is keeping a very tight lid on his Divine Aura, and simply works with the stuff he has, while ensuring he brings enough to not have the Harem Valkyries come chasing after his ass because they worry about him.
As ridiculously overpowered as he is here, he's actually using "minimal power".

There is currently no basis for that assumption. We have never seen him fight for himself, nor has anybody in the series ever even mentioned his ability to do so. The series has not established that he is capable of defending himself in any way.

You mean the ability to just let loose a bit and let a fraction of your innate power leak out so that everyone around you pisses themselves in fear and extasy, and anyone who doesn't with half a brain will GTFO promptly is not "being able to defend yourself"?
(Which is a thing that's been brought up several times, and why Kosuke doesn't do this.. in the Manga already....)

What should Kosuke be able to do to satisfy your "definition" of "defending yourself"?
Headbutt an ancient dragon into submission? Armwrestle a Titan while Swole, shouting "Muscles!!" ? Charge up his powers for 15 episodes and then blow a hole in a planet?
You're reading the wrong manga if you expect stuff like that here...

These convos are funny.

Don't you all remember the first time he met the Guild Master dude from this chapter? That guy was like these other people too, and the MC intimidated him almost immediately with his aura. He doesn't need to use the fairies or summons.. he chooses to.

However, his harem besides maybe like 2 of them, are more powerful than him in combat terms, but raw power, he trumps everyone.

Is this literally the first chapter where he actually fought something himself?

Cause he always had others fight for him. It's an improvement.

I also have to admit, I laughed at the small "Let me call you master" at the end. I didn't have much hope for this arc... but it's actually an improvement, except for the missing fanservice.
So monster tamers, summoners, spirit magic user, etc should be banned from adventuring.
I don't disagree that it's fine for the MC to fight with fairies. Those his ultra duper high class summons and most people can't even see them. But it is also certainly disappointing to not see how "he" fights. He's like the world's only living God. What does that even mean really when it comes to physical confrontations? What happens when divinity throws hands? I don't think it should be wasted on this stock Japanese adventurer cliché, but I would love to see the MC specifically throw down. Even if that's just like, because he's a living God no one can actually harm him or whatever.

While I am a bit disappointed we don't get to see the Kousuke's own fighting style, I understand why. This series isn't about the MC being some ultra powerful fighter. Instead, it's more about establishing a mythology with Kousuke at the center.

I was going to use the original, but found this too hahaha

still I was expecting MC to be a mage, no fighting as a spirit fairy mage tamer

84 chapters in and the author still insists on never even once having the main character fight for himself. He always has other people do his dirty work. In this chapter, spirit girls.

Lmao wait is this the first time he’s done any fighting at all??
Him "fighting" would probably involve using divine power for attacking. That would give him away and also obliterate whoever he hits
I initially thought this was his first on-screen fight as well, but during my current re-read I was surprised to notice we were all wrong. In chapter 37 when they first start conquering the second tower, the party (Kousuke, Kouhi, Mitsuki, and Floria) gets ambushed in the first room and everyone is fighting. Kousuke uses a dagger to stab a rock slime, and uses his divine power to shoot an energy beam at a skeleton to protect Floria. And in Chapter 38 he shoots an energy beam and all your see is a smear left in the air of whatever he just blasted. I assume it was a fish but it isn't clear.

  1. Northeast tower
    1. Chapter 37 - using a dagger
    2. Chapter 37 - Kami hameha (if any DBZ fans think I misspelled that... It was intentional)
  2. Southeast tower
    1. Chapter 38 - Obliterating a fish with an energy beam
edit: Finished my re-read. Other than this very chapter, I didn't find any other times where Kousuke directly fought.

As a side bonus from this exercise, in chapter 60 there are in-universe rumors about how no one has ever seen Kousuke fight for himself, and that's what makes Kouhi get extremely mad and ready to blow up Sajibal. Previously I thought Kouhi was being a bit unfair to threaten to end Sajibal over those rumors since those rumors had matched up with what we saw. But that hits every so slightly differently now that I know that he does very very very very rarely fight for himself.
